Pink Panther Playgroup Activities & Curriculum
Children learn through experiencing different types of play. This allows them to become actively involved in their learning. The great majority of play activities in Playgroup do not result in an end product. The children get pleasure and experience from the process of 'doing'. Pink Panther Playgroup follows the curriculum framework for children ages 3-5 published by the Scottish Executive Education Department. This outlines five key aspects of development:-
Emotional, Personal and Social Development
Communication and Language
Expressive and Aesthetic development
Physical Development and Movement
Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

Time, areas and activities in the playroom are organised to provide opportunities for the children to develop in all key aspects mentioned. In the playroom we have :-

Home area
Drawing table
Computer
Sand pit
Construction area
Outdoor play area
Jigsaw puzzles and games area
Water play
Art / craft area
Book corner

These are changed around regularly in response to the children's changing interests and development needs and ensures a stimulating environment is provided. The children also use the school music room and musical instruments and have weekly visits to the school gym.
