Learning at Pink Panther Playgroup

Children learn through experiencing different types of play. This allows them to become actively involved in their learning. The great majority of play activities in Playgroup do not result in an end product. The children get pleasure and experience from the process of 'doing'. Pink Panther Playgroup follows the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence-Early Level. There are 8 subject areas:

Literacy and English
Expressive Arts
Health and Wellbeing
Social Studies
Numeracy and Maths
Religious & Moral Education
Science
Technologies

Time, areas and activities in the playroom are organised to provide opportunities for the children to develop in all key aspects mentioned.

In the playroom we have :
home area . . . . . . computer . . . . . . book corner . . . . . . construction area . . . . . . jigsaw puzzles and games area . . . . . . water play . . . . . . art/craft area . . . . . . drawing table . . . . . . sand pit . . . . . . outdoor play area
These are changed around regularly in response to the children's changing interests and development needs and ensures a stimulating environment is provided. The children also use the school music room and instruments and have weekly visits to the school gym.
